Divestiture - OTC Healthcare Brand

SISU is a well - established brand of premium vitamin and supplement products. With national distribution across Canada the SISU brand name is well entrenched with consumers and health care professional for providing high quality in a variety of health care markets. Prior to the sale the company was generating approximately $25 million in annual sales.

Following a change in ownership to a publicly held company in Vancouver, an investment was made to revitalize the business with new product introductions, new packaging and new advertising. The rebuilding plan took approximately 2 years.

The Divestiture Process

Due to industry consolidation the decision was subsequently made to sell the business. With a major presence in the Canadian market, the brand was of interest to major providers of vitamins and supplements in both Canada and the U.S. Key assets were established brand equity, a strong key account listing/distribution base and a high degree of endorsement among health care professionals.

Results

Multiple offers were received. The brand was sold to NBTY Inc. a vertically integrated manufacturers and distributor of nutritional supplements listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
